Travel & Stay

Getting to Lisbon

Lisbon is well connected and easy to get around. A few pointers while we finalise recommendations.

Flying in

Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is about 20 minutes from the city centre. Direct flights run from most major international airports.

Where to stay

The towns below are all within 20 to 30 minutes of the venue and have plenty of hotels, guesthouses and Airbnbs to suit all budgets and party sizes.

By the coast

  • Sesimbra · 20 min. Fishing town with a sandy bay, seafood restaurants and a castle above.
  • Setúbal · 15 min. Lively riverside city with a ferry to the Tróia beaches.
  • Costa da Caparica · 30 min. Long surf beaches, closest to Lisbon and the airport.

Inland

  • Azeitão · 5 min. Wine country on the venue’s doorstep, with quintas and village guesthouses.
  • Palmela · 15 min. Hilltop castle town with views across the peninsula.

Lisbon itself is about 40 minutes away over the 25 de Abril bridge if you would rather base yourselves in the city.

Getting around

Taxis and ride-hailing are inexpensive, and in Lisbon the trams and metro are a fun way to explore. Bring comfortable shoes for the hills.

Hire cars are available at the airport from all the major operators and make getting to the venue easy. If you go down this route, be sure to add the electronic toll pass, as the bridges and motorways are tolled.

Yes. Herdade do Perú is fully accessible for guests with limited mobility, wheelchairs and pushchairs.

We are asking for an unplugged ceremony, so please keep phones and cameras away while we say our vows. Our professional photographers and videographers will be working their magic, and we will share the results with you afterwards. Snap away for the rest of the day.

Yes. There is parking at the venue should you decide to drive.

As guests are staying in different places, we encourage you to organise your own transport in advance of the event. If you plan to use taxis, please pre-book them ahead of the reception, as they can be hard to find late at night in Azeitão.

The reception will end at around 2am, and we would love as many of you as possible to stay until the end to party and dance with us.

No. We have not arranged hotel blocks or discount codes, but the Travel & Stay section lists the towns nearby with plenty of options to suit all budgets and party sizes.

Think elegant but relaxed, dressed for a warm day outdoors. Light fabrics such as linen, cotton and silk, and summer colours are encouraged.

  • Midi or maxi dresses, jumpsuits, or a light suit or separates.
  • Suits and blazers in lighter shades. Jackets are welcome but not required as the day warms up.
  • Block heels, wedges or smart flats rather than stilettos, as the whole day is on grass and gravel.

We will let you know closer to the date if there are any colours to avoid.

Absolutely. Guests on the groom’s side are encouraged to wear traditional Indian wear, and everyone is welcome to join in. We will add some guidance and places to hire or buy outfits here soon.

Early September in this part of Portugal is hot, with long days and late sunsets. Expect strong sun in the afternoon and warm evenings. Bring sunglasses and sun cream, and dress for the heat.

Your presence in Lisbon is the greatest gift, and we are still deciding whether to set anything up. One thing we do ask: please do not bring gifts to the celebrations themselves, as we have very limited luggage space to bring things back to London. We will update this page if that changes.

If you are travelling within Europe on a European passport, you do not need a visa. If you are travelling from outside Europe, please check the official travel guidance for your country well ahead of the trip.

Everyone is welcome in the pool. Please note there will be no lifeguard on site, so make sure your children are well prepared to swim safely and are supervised at all times.
